ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Mónica Ojeda was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, in 1988. She has published novels, short stories, and poems, earning her nominations and accolades in various literary contests. In 2017, she was listed in Bogotá39 by the Hay Festival as one of the best Latin American fiction writers under forty. In 2019, she received the Prince Claus Next Generation Award in the Netherlands. In 2021, Granta magazine named her one of the best Spanish-language authors under 35. Ojeda stands out as one of the leading figures in contemporary Latin American fiction literature. The author is renowned for her skill in crafting intense and unsettling narratives that delve into the darker aspects of human psychology. Her stories often explore themes such as abuse, obsession, emotional decay, while intricately portraying femininity within complex and challenging contexts.
